Everyone knows that exercise has health benefits, but for seniors, it is especially important. A new study shows that it doesn’t just make the elderly healthier, but helps them prevent disability. Part of the problem is traditional exercise can be difficult for older adults with issues like chronic pain or arthritis. Exercise Counseling can help senior citizens find ways to stay active and healthy.
Moderate Exercise Makes All The Difference
A new University of Florida study shows daily moderate physical activity may mean the difference between seniors being able to keep up everyday activities or becoming housebound. In fact, moderate physical activity helped aging adults maintain their ability to walk at a rate 18 percent higher than older adults who did not exercise.
If you are a senior citizen, or you have a loved one who is in this demographic, the goal is overall wellness. At Lake Pointe Chiropractic and Wellness Center, we can help you find ways to exercise so that you can continue to be active, independent, and mobile.
Exercise With a Goal
It is important to consult a doctor before starting a new exercise program. An exercise counseling session will evaluate your current needs and problems, and make recommendations for a regimen that will work for you.
