Tips For Exercising After An Injury

man attempting to exercise after an injury
Maybe you exercised a lot before getting injured. Maybe you hardly exercised but realize that you want to become more fit. However, you are just coming back from an injury. You know that you have to take it easy but you need more help. At Lake Pointe Chiropractic and Wellness Center, we offer exercise counseling along with help to make you pain free.

It is important to stretch.

You should spend several minutes stretching your muscles. They might be stiff from being inactive and you might need to spend more time stretching than exercising.

Start out slow and build up.

After an injury, you will not be able to start off right where you ended. If you ran for an hour, you will need to gradually build yourself back up to an hour. Start with a few minutes and see how you feel.

Monitor your body.

Do not push yourself. You could hurt yourself worse than before. You need to stop if you feel any type of discomfort. Also, watch for swelling and any pain.

Get help.

Here at Lake Pointe Chiropractic and Wellness Center, we can guide you to find exercises to slowly help build yourself back up. We will work with you to get you back into shape.

Though it is hard to come back from an injury, it is possible. Just start slow and gradually build yourself back up. Listen to your body and stop if you have to. Eventually, you will get back to where you were before. You might even improve. Contact us for more exercise counseling.
